Game Cube

Antioch, CA

I went to a birthday party tonight and played a video game. I hadn't played a video game in over 18 months, so of course I lost.

homeless living

Persian

Antioch, CA

John sold his Washer and Dryer tonight to this nice Persian Refugee family. Being the nice people that we are, I offered the service of my truck and we moved the washer dryer to their place and John and I hooked it up for them. While we were loading they asked about our dining room table and chairs. We had gotten the chairs and table for free from friends and we didn't really want them. So we all came back to the Apt and loaded up the table and chairs (and this hideous plant stand John had) and drove for another run over to this family's house to drop it off. Afterwards there were handshakes and hugs and, of course, I asked for some pictures. The men and boys were more than willing to take pictures. The women politely refused (which sucked because they had some beautiful daughters). So the top pick is the combination of about three families. Then they offered to take a picture of John and I with them. John stands out like a sore thumb but beyond that it was a great evening.

Money Can't Buy You

Walnut Creek, CA

Money can buy you a lot of things. Nice cars. Nice polish for the car. But the one thing money can't buy you is brain power to avoid colliding with a pole when it jumps out in front of you. I just hate it when poles jump out in front of your car.

Ball Day Twofer

San Francisco, CA

My friend Jenny LOVES (!!) the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tonight they were playing a team in San Francisco and we went to watch. Jenny has some amazing hook-ups and got us to the dugout for free. Prior to the game she met with players on the AZ team (All of which knew her by first name). After the game (in which AZ beat the other sucky team 5 to 3), we returned to the locker room and got signatures. I loved both of these pictures. I love the second one just a little more as the player signing the ball was taller than me and it was such a treat to see this little kid go up to him and ask for his signature and just watch in awe as the player signed the ball.

Donny World

Brentwood, CA

There is this guy in Brentwood that has too much money so he built a water park in his backyard. He has one working slide and also a big wall for watching movies on. Then he named it after himself and lets various church groups use it from April 1 to November 1 Tuesday through Saturday. Tonight I went to Donny World. I was having so much fun (I bruised my elbow) that I forgot to take a picture until the sun was already way down. Oh well.

From Santa

Oakley, CA

I went over to a friend's house to see their hen house before I build one, and right next to the hens was this pony. How cute. I'm sure you will get more pictures from this pony...I was asked to do some irrigation work at the house come September. At this point, I'm booked through October for sprinkler jobs. (-:

Dust ME

So evidently, I'm not very good at dusting my room.

on the way out

Antioch, CA

Tonight I started moving major furniture out of the apartment and into the storage unit.

It seems like a lot of Photo a Day people are moving: Bonnie, Koch, Jenn and John.

Reminder Plates

Antioch, CA

I get to pack these plates again. I hate packing these plates. First off, they are fragile. But more importantly, I hate packing these plates because they have never been used. You see, my mom bought them over 5 years ago. She bought them the September before she was diagnosed with cancer. She was in the hospital for that Thanksgiving and was dead before the next one. We had talked about having a "Thanksgiving Dinner" in June but for some reason (that I can't remember why) that date didn't work for Ryan, DJ, John, KNJ and I. For the life of me I can't think of what is more important than the last Thanksgiving for my mother.

The dishes have yet to be used. I hate being reminded of that missed Thanksgiving.

Freaking Awesome Movie

Antioch, CA

Saturday night into Sunday morning I got to see a truly amazing movie. Even though it totally doesn't follow the original DC comic books, this is an amazing (!!!) take on Batman and just an amazing movie in general. I was riveted the whole movie. Just to give you an example of how riveted - In the last 72 hours I've gotten a combined total of 15 hours of sleep. I was fully awake for this whole movie and my mind is rushing a million thoughts a second now. Great movie.

I went on a hand crank cycle ride today with BORP. On the ride, I saw this kite that was the biggest kite I had ever seen.

Marsh Creek

Brentwood, CA

I had a little time tonight waiting to see a new apartment. So I went on a hike around the neighborhood. I found the Marsh Creek Regional trail. The creek was well littered and even had a dead fish in it. The apartment was too small for me. I'll keep looking.
