Instead of going to church today, I went with my brother and his family to the Harley Davidson Museum. I was surprised by how well the museum was put together and organized. I walked away with a whole lot more info than I came in with. Also, I was happy to see it was kid friendly. They had a scavenger hunt for my niece (and for my brother for that matter). It was just a great trip.

My whole life I've dreamed of that airport experience where I was out of the secured area and someone runs to me, grinning ear to ear. Today I had that and it was awesome.

Today I got in the mail this card with the following inscribed:

"Dear Uncle Sean,
Thank you so much for my doctor books. I really love the pictures, especially of the bloody heart. I really like everything doctor and I have been taking my books everywhere. Mommy really likes to see the disgust on people's faces when they realize what they are looking at. Ever since we dissected the cow eye, I want to see pictures of increasingly gross things. We are glad you were there at the start of it all. "

I think I should win a prize for not only best uncle but best brother-in-law. Not only did I get the kid what she wanted but the gift was so good that my sister-in-law gets to use it too - to gross other people out. Go me.

The Gayest Sausage

Every summer while I was in college at BYUI, I had a two week break between semesters. During those two weeks I'd drive out to Wisconsin to see my brother, Sister-in-law and the niece. While there my SIL would take me shopping for new clothes ("Sean you're in college now. You need to start dressing like you're in college"). One time we were at Target buying me my first ever POLO style shirt. One of the shirts my SIL had me try on was a red and blue striped polo. I told her I looked gay in it. (I mean that in the nicest way possible.) She told me I was being silly (and rude toward gay people), but eventually relented and didn't make me get it. Several hours later we were at a Brewers game. During one of the innings a bunch of sausages come out and race around the field. As the #2 Sausage came out I turned to Liz and said "See isn't that the Gayest Sausage you've ever seen." She choked on her Mike's Hard lemonade as she laughed.

On Wednesday, I received my birthday gift from my Wisconsin family. In it was the #2 Racing Sausages Mascot sporting his gay red and blue striped shirt. I'm not sure but I think this is in retribution for getting my brother a BYUI Cow Tipping Team T-Shirt.

Resurrection

When I lived with John I had my father build me a closet because my room didn't come with one. When John got us evicted, my father suggested I save my old closet "because you never know when you might need one again." I begrudgingly kept it. Well it turns out the new place I'm moving into doesn't have a closet. So I dug this out of storage and now I'm eating crow.

Reminder Plates

I get to pack these plates again. I hate packing these plates. First off, they are fragile. But more importantly, I hate packing these plates because they have never been used. You see, my mom bought them over 5 years ago. She bought them the September before she was diagnosed with cancer. She was in the hospital for that Thanksgiving and was dead before the next one. We had talked about having a "Thanksgiving Dinner" in June but for some reason (that I can't remember why) that date didn't work for Ryan, DJ, John, KNJ and I. For the life of me I can't think of what is more important than the last Thanksgiving for my mother.

The dishes have yet to be used. I hate being reminded of that missed Thanksgiving.

My mother always said that for any home project it requires three trips to the hardware store and 1 new tool. So to not disappoint my mother, I'll report that this weekend's project required 6 trips to the hardware store and these two new tools. As I continue to fine tune the ramp, I may also need to buy a tool like this one.
