Oompa Lommpa

Antioch, CA

This is Little Bear. He, unlike Lily, LB is mellow, slow moving and very appreciative of very little attention. He doesn't follow you around the house axiously waiting for you to take him on a W-A-L-K like some other dog we know.

The reason for the title is because of the type of dog she is. Every time I hear the name I think to myself that she's a Oompa Loompa.

Men with guns and flags

San Jose, CA

This was the Color Guard prior to the game.

San Jose Giants Shut out extras

To throw out the opening pitch, the police commisioner for San Jose flew in on a helicopter, landed just behind second base, threw the first pitch, got back in the helicopter and flew away. At least my niece stayed for the game after throwing out her first pitch.

This was a seeing eye dog that was seated with us at the game. So cute and friendly.

Base runner.
I would have gotten the picture's ball, but the base coach was in the way.

SJ Giants win.
After the game they let the kids in the stands run the bases.

Watching the A's lose it

Oakland CA

Oakland A's 2
Minnesota Twins 12
$7 for two tickets. It was a sad game but at least we didn't pay too much.

look at the size of my melons

Antioch, CA

The Cantaloupe are ready to be eaten out of the garden. They are kind of small, but they taste great. (They are just slightly larger than an Ostrich egg.)

Not even free

Antioch, CA

At work we are constantly getting stuff for free that we then give away to our clients for free. I've been on the job for almost 8 months and no one has taken the Yankees ball cap. Even if it's free people won't support such a sucky team.

Saturn Door Guts

Antioch, CA

Lily and I see this car every few days on our walks. It's a Saturn with a slightly damaged door. Just like new, just needs a little body work and a fresh coat of paint.

Heritage tree

Brentwood, CA

This looks like it would be a great climbing tree. Or even a tree to just sit under and read a book to your honey. Mind you, the girl I like, it would probably be an ecology book. (-:

digging out

Antioch, CA

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate moving. For this move I'm applying the "thrice move rule." If I haven't used since I moved three times ago it is going away. Childhood blanket excluded.

Green Gators versus the Gators

Antioch, CA

I went to an able bodied soccer game today.

Cheated

Dublin, CA

I went to dinner at Fudruckers tonight and as I was getting ready to order I saw this on the wall. So I ordered a soda and then found out they only carry Pepsi products. I felt way cheated. I don't really like Pepsi products. I'd rather drink water than Pepsi. I LOVE Coke and love drinking it with a burger and some fries. Shame on Fudruckers for screwing up my drinkage tonight.

I couldn't help but share this.

Flower and that cute mutt

Antioch, CA

I saw this beautiful flower today on our walk. Not a clue what type it is and figuring my ecology expert is in TN for the next few (15!) months, I doubt we'll ever know.

I'd like to apologize for posting yet another picture of Lily, but this one was just too cute. As I was getting ready to hook up my camera to my computer, Lily came up and started sniffing it. The second picture resulted from her sniffing the camera.

Faithful Follower

Antioch, CA

You feed her a few times, pet her every day, and take her for walks every third day and suddenly you've got a really faithful follower. Every time I get up from my computer to go to my bedroom or go to the restroom, Lily gets up as well and follows me to my destination, waits and then follows me back. I wish dating was this easy.

In case you were confused

Pittsburg, CA

That thing you are walking toward, with handles and key locks on it...yeah that thing. It's a glass door. WARNING! It's a Glass Door. No telling what it may do to you. Usually it opens and then closes but you never know so be warned.

(Oh how I'm going to love being at a Junior College again. Everything is a teaching opportunity.)

(For Dad)

fitting

I'm going to try to fit my Santa delivered Desk into the whole created by the door (top pick), and then all I will have left in storage is a plethora of boxes which will go here there and everywhere. I think it may all fit though. Oh, and I put the glass doors back in on the sliders.

Toss up Thursday

Oakley, CA

Antioch CA
I had a peach for breakfast.
I wish I could find a good place in the Antioch Hills that was unobstructed to take pictures of the sunsets better.

(A Garden Update)

Good Bye Zucchini

Tonight we harvested the last of the Zucchini. All in all, we harvested 60 that were the size I wanted and 20 that were smaller. Something has gotten into the zucchini and started eating it so it had to be pulled. The children actually cheered when I told them we were pulling the zucchini. The 13 year old, who never wants to do any thing physical, offered to come out and help yank out (and I quote) "that stupid plant." Pictured above is two five gallon buckets that make up the very last we were able to gather. In case you were curious, the lighter green zucchini were from start plants bought here in Antioch. The darker zucchini came from seeds that were sent to me anonymously by a girl in Utah. I'll spend the next few days clawing the soil, cleaning it up and preparing it. Within two weeks we'll plant broccoli and cauliflower for the fall harvest.

Thievery

Pittsburg, CA

This morning when I arrived at work I had two flasks and 25 bottles of water in the back of my truck in this milk crate. Some time in the 8 hours my truck sat in the parking lot, some body or some bodies came by and took about 20 of the water bottles. I hope they tasted good.
