I live in a 1 bedroom, 1 Den Apartment. John gets the room and I get the den. We weren't sure I was staying, so we never made the den a bedroom. Now that we know I'm staying, I'm going to build a wall to separate the kitchen from the den. I will have my room, John will have his, and dinner guests won't be looking into my room when they are over. Win-Win-Win.
Actually Liz, The landlord has signed off on us doing what ever we need to to the apartment as long as it is fixable. The wall going up won't do any damage to the apartment except put 6 small holes in the surrounding beams - all of which are repairable with wood filler.
