A member of the ward suggested using soaker hoses and that is what the owners thought sounded good. I am still a little skeptical, so for my precious zucchini plants I put in a drip system (upper left side of the garden.)

my parents put soaker hoses down their rasperry patch and in quite a few of their other little "gardens" that are mostly filled with bushes, covered in plastic, and then covered again with rock...

but i hear drip systems are better for the garden-type situation.
